Project

  • The client provides civil construction services in the NSW area and has a passion for the sea
  • The client purchased an Aquila 65ft power catamaran.
  • Aquila required a major refit to bring all the electrical systems up to standard.
  • Cromarty were engaged to conduct the electrical systems upgrade.

Solution

The project required engaging with the owner of the vessel, naval architects, and the electrical surveyor to ensure correct documentation, testing and installation practices were followed and criteria met to ensure the vessel could be put into commercial survey to provide evidence that the vessel meets specified standards for design, construction, stability and safety equipment.

Works involved:

  • Auditing the vessel's entire electrical systems
  • Retrospectively creating from scratch drawings of all complex electrical systems
  • Refitting the vessel to bring it to the latest specification in preparation for electrical survey

Outcome

The refit of the vessel was successfully completed and after the Electrical Survey gained MET Connect sign off. The client was extremely happy with the outcome he commented that the Cromarty team went above and beyond in completing this challenging project with excellent communication and attention to detail in the electrical systems, drawings and the coordination of others for the electrical survey and was keen to work with Cromarty again on future projects.
