- The client has been mining iron ore and producing premium magnetite pellets in Australia for over 50 years.
- As part of a modernisation process, the client wanted to update the control room and upgrade the SCADA system.
- Cromarty was engaged to conduct the works.
Solution
Cromarty worked collaboratively with the client to:
- Specify, supply and install new server hardware.
- Procure upgraded Citect SCADA software.
- Design, supply and install new control room power and control cabling.
- Liaise with the joinery contractor to assist in the ergonomic design of the new control room desk.
- Install new monitors into the refurbished control room.
- Systematically upgrade the existing Citect SCADA projects to the latest version.
- Coordinate the upgrade and testing to coincide with a plant shutdown to minimise production downtime.
- Commission the upgraded control system.
Outcome
The client was delighted with the revitalised control system and revamped modern control room environment. The SCADA upgrade allowed the resolution of several historical issues helping the operators better manage the site, providing them with a pleasant working environment. The latest version of the Citect software also provided security benefits ensuring the site was protected well into the future.
